Ric Richards: Owner/Operator
After 15 years as a nurse anesthetist, franchise owner Ric Richards realized his passion for the restaurant business and began his career as a McDonald’s owner/operator with one store in Woodland Park, Colorado in June of 1988. His ambition as a McDonald’s operator grew quickly and in 1992 he moved his family to Danville, Illinois to become the owner of 3 McDonald’s restaurants. After 7 years in Illinois, the family moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where they currently own 16 restaurants in the Cary, Raleigh and Durham area including the first Gold LEED certified McDonald’s in North Carolina, which opened in July of 2009. The company’s second LEED certified McDonald’s location on Walnut Street opened in November of 2013.
In addition to his work as a McDonald’s franchise owner, Ric provides leadership in the Raleigh Region through active involvement in the co-op, and serving on the Board of Trustees for the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and the Duke Children’s Hospital National Advisors Board.
